Humanitarian Effort- Bosnia
Hello all,
Last week Farzaneh and I visited a Bosnian family who has just arrived in the bay area. The family consists of a young couple and their 4-year-old son Sajo. Sajo was born when the war in Bosnia started. He was a premature infant and was born with tremendous birth deficiencies. Because of the medical emergencies that war brought with it, Sajo did not get admitted to any hospital for proper diagnosis or treatment.
Sajo needs to be visited by a children's doctor first and possibly undergo surgeries. Like some of you, I have no idea how we can help. Perhaps, helping the famiy to find a doctor is something to think about. During our visit, Sajo stayed in his father's arms quietly. He cannot walk. He seems to have spinal problems, as a result he couldn't keep his head up. But, once in a while he would try to raise his head and smile. He is a very beautiful boy who has a future ahead of him. He is another victim of the bloody war; too bad he is too young to suffer from the consequences.
I'll be taking some gifts to him; although I'm not sure if he can hold any toys. If you like to visit him, drop a note.
