Doreh News Brief -- Our goal for 1994

O.K. to all of you who wondered when the next doreh gathering will be: "It's comming at the theaters near you NEXT THURSDAY" :)

Last week the programming committee (Fariba, Kourosh and myself) had a meeting in which we decided on the layout of doreh for this year. Thanks to all of you who gave great ideas and thoughts,in particular, we liked Farzin's suggetion; to focus on a series of topics throughout the year.

Here's how the committe implemented the idea:

Our goal will be to focus and cover as many topics as we can related to three main areas:

• Self Help (such as psychology,spirituality,etc..)
• Politics & History
• Arts (music, poetry, fine arts, photography,etc..)

Of course, these are "guidelines"! So, if you can define Ashpazi to be an art, then it falls into the Arts series. We will do our best to invite quests who can contribute to one of these categories. What we can expect to accomplish are among the following:

• The topics are general, yet focused; letting the audience to comprehend and raise their level of subject matter.
• It will be alot easier for you to pick a topic, research it and present it. You can even go to a local/remote library and just look under these topics!!
• Guest speakers and our own members will give parallel presentations and that could be challenging.

So, with all that the main challenge is: "HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE?"

Some of you have already talked to us about your topics. If you haven't and wish to do so using the new series all you have to do is to let us know of the category, topic and the projected time of your presentation and we will schedule your talk. You would want to schedule at least 2 months in advance.

As for next week, Mr. Nooh whom you are familiar with will be our guest speaker. He is an expert in the areas of: history,literature, poetry and many more. His first talk in doreh was on "Tanz dar zabAne Farsi". Fariba will send an update on this. Please do invite your friends who are potential contributer and have interest in giving presentations to doreh.
