DoustAneh aziz,
Well, well, well (not to be confused with HO! HO! HO!)....as 1993 comes to a rapid close, our doreh is proud to have had a great year. Our speakers, guest or not, covered such vast variety of topics and with such unmatched diversity that one cannot help wondering if there is a clear direction to these gatherings! From photography to psychology, poetry to journalism, music to nutrition, political science to fiction, satanic verses to Hajji baba(!), Ahmad kasravi to Chopin...you name it, we've talked about it. The list goes on and on...and it tells you that our group is about friends, about being with friends, and about learning from and sharing with friends.
Well friends, it's time to share again...share a good time to be had by all. We're having our last doreh of 1993 this Thursday night at Kambiz's place. What makes this doreh special, aside from being the last one this year, is that NOBODY will give a talk!! Is that great or what?!!! Now, this is NOT, I repeat, NOT a party. But as we all know, whenever Kambiz, aka chief, aka ghooghoor-o-saltaneh, the man who's still looking for it, has a gathering in his place, there's always a great potential for a party. But I can promise Kambiz, on everybody's behalf, that we will do our best to keep this particular event from turning into a party....NOT!! (BTW, Wayne's World 2 is coming out tonite!)
Anyhow, come and see your friends, before they all get one year older! Come and celebrate your efforts and participations that made last year a great one for our Doreh. Hope to see you all there.
BTW, since Kambiz has ever so generously volunteered his place for this gigantic event, as a courtesy to him feel free to bring any sort of food or drinks that you deem suitable for the occasion. That would be a gesture much appreciated by all.
Here's Kambiz's address for those who never had it, once had it but lost it, still have it but are not sure where it is, or have it but are too lazy to look for it:
DoustAneh aziz va mohtaram,
BA salAm. As you all know, we had our last doreh gathering of 1993 last night. Since we didn't have our regular schedule of having a speaker, there was no talk, and hence, there is no summary!
I just wanted to thank Foroozan for coming up with a place to have the doreh in such a short notice after the original plans of having the gathering at Kambiz's place got cancelled due to Kambiz's "health condition". For those concerned, I have good news. Kambiz will live!
I also wanted to thank Ramin Zolfonoun for "garm kardaneh majles" with the beautiful sounds of his SetAr. Listening to his music last night was as enchanting and enjoyable as ever.
And last, but certainly not least, special thanx to Foroozan for keeping the doreh alive with her hard work and unmatched dedication. I'm sure there are a lot of us out there who share her beliefs about the goals of doreh, but experience has shown that very few of us are actually willing to spend the time and the effort that she has spent to keep things rolling. And for that, I think she deserves our gratitute. (There Foroozan, I said it. You owe me 20 bucks!!)
Of course, the list of people to thank is quite long, because everybody has contributed to doreh one way or another. Be it giving talks, offering a place for the doreh, collecting information, suggesting sources or even just showing up. And that's all it takes. I hope we can keep the wheels of our doreh rolling with our contineous efforts and contributions for even a better 1994.
cheers,
ka.
BA sallame garm be dorehvandane gerAmi,
Thanks to Kourosh for his note and the idea of last gathering of the year. On behalf of the "Heiate Modireh" I will present all the topics and speakers of doreh. As Kourosh mentioned it has been a fruitful year for doreh. I figured there is got to be a way to thank everyone for their contributions. So, I am asking you to please review the following list, remember the event, and send a vote saying which one of the following presentations you liked the most.
You may choose your own criteria or something like:
Send your votes to "Me" directly. You may also collect your non-net dorehee votes and send them to me. There will be gifts for those who get the most votes. Remember that the list covers (as far as my computer's memory serves) 1993 topics not including our guest speakes.
The Nominees are:
If someone's missing on this list please send a note to me. Thanks.
Foroozan
Thank you Kourosh, I'm flattered :) It was my pleasure to serve doreh. I think everyone who has participated has contibuted to doreh. But, if it's been a busy year for some of us who couldn't join, we hope to see you more next year :) Although, Vahshi Bafghi has something else to say on this!!!! :

In case you missed last night and are curious to know what presentations got the most votes, I'll go over them:
"Computers in Music" by Sharokh
"Fit For Life" by Farzaneh
"Adventures of Haji Baba of Isfahan" by Kourosh
Congratulations to them and to all of you for making a difference in our small community :)
Just to give you an update for upcomming doreh activities, Kourosh, Fariba and I will meet to discuss the plan for next year. The next doreh will be sometime in January. We'll send updates.
See you all next year,
Foroozan
