Manufacturing Concent

We have a very interesting movie lined up for our next doreh session. Thanks to our very own Nima, otherwise known as the Opera man(!), we have access to a 5-hour PBS special called "Manufacturing Concent". Here's what Nima had to say about the movie:
Following Nimas recommendation, we will devote 2 consecutive doreh sessions to this movie. The first one will be next Wednesday (yes, Wednesday) the 29th of March and the second session will be a week later on the following Wednesday April the 5th. Nima has generously offered his place for the first session of this two-part event and we're still looking for volunteers for the 5th of April.
I have an excellent video tape called "Manufacturing Concent" by Noam Choamsky. I think every body must know who he is. Noam is a great contemporary modern intellectual whoes most notable work is his very strong ideas about the role of media in US and how it is manipulated by the government to control the masses. To quote one line from the video:
"Propaganda is to democracy, what violance is to dictatorship."
The video is like a documentary/interview/book review style. It is very fun to whatch, and I gurantee it will hold your attention untill the last minute. The video is in two parts. First part is about 2 hours, and second part is about 3 hours. So I recommend we have two consecutive doreh sessions followed by a mild disscusions.
I also like to introduce to you a magazine called Z. Noam Chomsky regularly writes articles in there, and I think he might be a co-editor as well. After watching the vedio you'll know why you should be interested in Z magazine and not the thrashee Times or News Week, etc. Z is free of the forces that control most of the main stream media, and has political analysis of how west emperialism is ever so skillfully devouring the rest of the world.
