Hello Comrades !
The next doreh meeting will be held in September 26, 1996. The speaker
or pseudo-speaker will be yours truly covering Russian's history of
Stalin period. As Ghasem used to say: "vala dorugh cherA, dar doniA ye mard
bashe, hamin Stalin khAne khodemoone !", this period of Russian's history
not only changed Russia forever, but in due course, changed the world and
in particular Iran. Just for the fact that Stalin created a monsterous
regime which makes _any_ other regime 'democratic' comparatively,
is reason enough for a 'fozool' person to be curious as to what in the wild,
wild world of sports was going on there ! To give you one simple 'statistic':
Between 18-22 million people perished because of this man (total population of
Iran at that time ! ..and tis figure does not include 23 millions Russians
who died in WW II).
So what's on agenda ? Roughly:
After so much arm twisting and mails coming and going, me saying "No way" and Foroozan saying "Dont you dare" stuff, Foroozan (and not me) decided to have the doreh at my place also (and I thought Stalin is gone !). So here is the address and direction (due to fallen SGI stocks, the place is still small and may be uncomfortable for some ..so pijamas are welcomed !)
tel: 408-XXX-XXXX (no Collect call please !) Tea and cookies will be provided. No food since I aint cooking !
heil Stalin !
- Comrade Behnamov
Dear Comrades,
Last meeting, the speaker was our very own Behnam Mahjoor, who talked
about Stalin, and he also tried to squeeze in a little bit of Marxism
as well. Most of his knowledge was gathered from several thick
books. There are "Stalin: Triumph and Tragedy" and "Lenin", both
written by Soviet General Demitri Volkogonov. Another was the all
time famous, "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich". "Stalin: Triumph
and Tragedy" was the first book which its information came directly
from the secret files of KGB.
Reaching the end of WW-I, Russia had lost many human lives and
territorial grounds. Alexander II, the last Tsar ruler, abdicates
power and the nations moves toward monarch. Lenin seeks this
opportunity and with the help of Bolsheviks takes the power, and makes
peace with Germany. At this time Stalin was not a member of the think
tank of Russian Marxism. He was only a executer(not far from
executioner) for Lenin. Stalin later was elected to the post of
General Secretary which all the other secretaries reported to him.
This made him a very resourceful man in the government. After Lenin's
death he became the top man in the Party. Trotsky was expelled from
USSR, and later was assassinated in Mexico. Stalin's strategy to
control the people was to put fear in to them. He told them that
enemy is among us. When he tried to collectivize the land the
farmers refused. So he labeled them as kulak(enemy of people).
Stalin order mass migration of people, which started the terror and
rise of the death toll.
At the end, over twelve million people died by the mass migration.
This was caused by the lack of food, because the peasants were part of
the migration. All the concentration camps were filled with political
prisoners, most of which had been held without trial. The prisoners
included scientists, army generals, and artists. The nation feared
itself. Yet with all the misery, people loved Stalin with all their
hearts. The author, believes that the Russian people made great
achievements despite Stalin.
Moral of the story: don't play with matches.
