Boo-ye-joo-ye- Moulian -- Journey Through Tajikistan

Masoud Sepand, poet, writer, and journalist, was born in 1943 in Sarbeesheh, Khorasan, near Afghan border. He studied criminology at the Iran's Police Academy and received his Masters. He was a Major (Sargord) in the Iran's Police Force (Shahrbaani) during the previous regime.

He immigrated to the U.S. after the Islamic revolution and currently resides in San Jose. He's married and has two children, Shahriar & Sheedeh.

Sepand, along with Nosratolah Nooh, traveled to Tajikistan in 1994. His travelogue was published in the Weekly Khaavaraan and also recently in a book titled "Boo-ye-joo-ye- Moulian: Journey Through Tajikistan," Pine Press, 1996.

He'll share with us his impression and videos of Tajikistan, formerly part of Iran.

What is doreh?      Doreh consists of a group of loosely connected Iranians that gather on a monthly basis to listen to a varied source of guests. In the past the gatherings have been held in individual member's homes.

What is it changing to?      There are just too many people interested in the events to hold them in people's homes. We are planning to hold them in a more public location with the meetings open to the public.

What does it mean to you?     You are asked to donate $5 at the door. We encourage you to let your friends know about our events and invite them to our meetings.
