MASULEH
In about 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from Rasht across asphalt roads
brings you to the village
of Masuleh where the architecture intimately relates to the rocky
mountain terrian of Gilan. Houses hug the cliffs, rising vertically upward,
with rooftops and village streets virtually indistinguishable. Cattle herding
is the main village occupation and delicious white cheese is sold in the
small tea houses lining the streets.
"The rural houses"
Places like this village of Masuleh hidden in the green vegatation of the
Caspian region or like Bam, the historic city bordering on the Great Desert
partially fertilized by irragation, illustrate the rich variety of
contrasts found in this immense country.
